Alan Shamoun, Senior Associate Attorney
Alan Shamoun is a Senior Associate Attorney at Ayar Law. He knows the Internal Revenue Manual inside out and serves as the firm’s leading expert on IRS and state tax collections.
Alan’s extensive background in law, finance, and small business has helped him connect with clients on a personal level and provide creative legal solutions to successfully resolve a multitude of tax and financial problems
Growing up in the Metro Detroit suburb of Farmington Hills, Shamoun was introduced to Michigan’s small business culture at a very young age. His family owned several small businesses where he learned the art of entrepreneurship, and by age 18 he was managing the family restaurant. He continued to manage the restaurant while earning his undergraduate degree in finance, worked for many small businesses, and upon passing the bar exam, he opened his own law firm.
As a solo attorney, Shamoun successfully handled a wide array of legal concentrations, including business law, criminal defense, landlord tenant law, arbitration, and litigation. Alan’s passion for tax law brought him to Ayar Law in 2014. Today, his legal expertise and extensive knowledge of the IRS code has helped countless people resolve tax debts and move on with their lives.
Shamoun received his undergraduate degree in finance from Wayne State University and earned his Juris Doctor from The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, graduating Cum Laude.
Shamoun was Executive Vice President to the Student Bar Association from 2011-2012, a Senior Member of the Moot Court Board of Advocates, an Associate Board Member, and the Board’s Director of Finance.
He was a contender in the John Marshall Law School International Moot Court Competition in Information and Technology, and Privacy Law, and was also the recipient of the Voice for Justice Public Interest Fellowship.

Alan resides in Bloomfield Hills with his wife Chantel, a Senior Account Specialist at AON, and their two-year-old son Noah. He’s an avid sports fan and accomplished athlete. Shamoun played high school football and has been playing ice hockey since he was four years old. He served two years as the captain of his varsity high school hockey team, played club hockey in Law School, and still skates for recreation. Alan and Chantel are expecting their second child, a little girl, this summer.
